All Hail the Train ;)
If there’s one thing I’m thankful for for the Philippine government… it would be the Light/Mass Rail Transit system. I do not know how mass rail systems in other countries work (though they say it’s way much better) but I’m quite satisfied with what we have here. As long as it takes me to places I want to go, then who am I to complain?
I was introduced to the LRT/MRT back when I was in highschool, I think, but I never get to use it as I was always dependent on my dad and my friends to get me where I wanted to go. When college came, my dad stripped me off the privilege to ride our home car to go to school or wherever. Then there came the LRT to my rescue. The LRT is a pedicab-ride away from my house and it became my daily means of commute. At first I was dead scared with stories of stealing, etc etc I’ve heard from people, but later on, I’ve come to realize that the LRT is probably one of the safest means of transportation. (I’ve never been harassed so far. Who would have the guts to commit a crime in such a crowded place?) Plus, it’s the cheapest also! 30 pesos can take you as far away as Trinoma! No taxi can ever beat that ;) The LRT also serves as my ‘oasis’ whenever I’m in an unfamiliar territory because I know that whenever there’s an LRT station… I would reach home.
That’s for the good side. As for the bad side… I don’t even want to start ;)
